About event

In the cozy space of Common Ground, there will be a presentation of Anton Dolin's book "Bad Russians," also known as "Bad Russians. From "Brother" to "Boy's word". This book is an extensive study of successful Russian films that, over several decades, worked to strengthen the ideology of the Putin regime. You've probably seen many of them and even loved them. But what values does this film convey? How does it teach you to look at the past and what myths does it give rise to? Why are Danila Bagrov and Sasha Bely national heroes in Russia? Are comedies really that xenophobic? Anton Dolin writes about nostalgia for the USSR, the cult of violence, patriarchy, friendship between “cops” and bandits, homophobia and much more that is still present in “bad Russian” cinema
